GOOD TIMES. GOOD MUSIC. GOOD MEMORIES!
A biennial feature on the Newcastle music calendar, The Newkulele Festival offers a fantastic weekend celebrating the joyous sounds of the ukulele and related music. This unique event is open to all the family and suitable for any age group, and has a special appeal for music lovers.
The Festival features international acts and players from across Australia covering a wide range of music styles and accompanying instruments. Come along for two days and nights to feast on the diversity of sounds created around the beautiful, humble ukulele. The festival offers multiple stages of FREE music, markets, open mic opportunities, a cafe and bar, workshops and two fabulous ticketed evening concerts - all in and around the historic Newcastle City Hall.
Newcastle is 160km north of Sydney via the M1 Motorway and is well serviced by both air and rail transport. It is NSW’s second largest city, on a beautiful string of beaches at the mouth of the Hunter River. As well as having an historic city centre and vibrant foreshore, Newcastle is relatively uncrowded and only a 20 minute drive from beautiful Lake Macquarie, Australia’s largest coastal salt water lake. Also not to be missed are the Hunter Valley vineyards and wineries, and the watery wonderland of Port Stephens.
We're working hard to make Newkulele 2020 the best yet, with even more music, more fun, and yes, more ukulele than ever before! Stay tuned for artist and event announcements over the coming months.
